The‘A’seriesofdrawingsheets,showninFigure1,isnormallyused.Thedrawingareaandtitleblockshouldbewithinaframeborder.Ingeneral,materialwithintheframeborderformspartofanycontractrequirements.

1.4 Borders and frames
Bordersenclosedbytheedgesofthetrimmedsheetandtheframelimitingthedraw-ingspaceshouldbeprovidedwithallsizes.Thebordershouldbe20mmwideontheleftedge,includingthewidthoftheframe.Itcanbeusedasafilingmargin.Allotherbordersare10mmwide(seeFigure2).
1.5 Drawing formats
Drawingsheetsmaybeproducedintwoformats.Portraitformatisintendedtobeviewedwiththelongestsideofthesheetvertical(seeFigure3a).Landscapeformatisintendedtobeviewedwiththelongestsideofthesheethorizontal(seeFigures3b–3d).

41.Layoutofdrawings1.7 Marking
TechnicalProductDocumentation(TPD)orTechnicalProductSpecification(TPS)preparedinaccordancewiththerequirementsofBS8888shouldbemarkedwiththenumberofthestandard,i.e.BS8888,inaprominentlocation.
Note.ThemarkingofTPDwith‘BS8888’constitutesaclaimthattheappropriaterequirementsofallrelevantcross-referencedstandards,inadditiontotherequire-mentsdirectlystatedinBS8888,havebeenmet.
IftheTPDorTPShasbeenpreparedusingtheindependencysystemoftolerancing(seeClause14,Tolerancing),themarkidentifyingthenumberofthisstandardshallbesupplementedbytheletter‘I’containedwithinanequilateraltriangle,asshowninFigure4.
