The coresamples (11) to be cut are placed in core holders (13). Each core holder (13) comprises abody (15) having a base (17) and a pair of drive lugs (20) depending from the base. Thecore saw (10) comprises a cutter (30) and a delivery trough (38) adapted to receive aplurality of the core holders 13 which are conveyed successively to the cutter (30). Thebottom (40) of the trough (38) is configured as a conveyer means (42) for receiving andconveying core holders(13) in succession to the cutter (30) for cutting of core samplesheld in the core holders. The conveyor means (42) comprises an endless loop (62)configured as a duplex roller chain (64) having openings (80) to receive the drive lugs (20)to provide engagement with the core holders for conveying the core holders (13) to thecutter (30).
