kingston说他的叔叔BuJu从小就告诉他：“无时无刻保持谦虚，坚持，相信你自己的能力！” 而且经常给他讲述一些生活的东西，这些都让他在音乐创作中找到了很多的灵感。
kingston，家族的音乐血统，也让他的音乐之路崎岖了许多，能得到现在的成功，也是来之不易。
他说他很希望去制作一个REAL的streets 故事的MixTape,他认为一张好的MixTape可以让大家一起成长，让更多的人关注。他来自迈阿密的好朋友DJ KHALED也全力支持他的想法.
由于首支主打单曲《Beautiful Girls》在上周的Hot 100单曲榜中一举夺魁，年仅17岁的R&B新星肖恩·金斯顿（Sean Kingston）在一夜之间备受关注，他的同名处子作《Sean Kingston》本周首周上榜就取得了第六名的好成绩。据Nielsen SoundScan统计，《Sean Kingston》在美国上市首周的销量接近7万5千张。在目前的Hot 100单曲榜中，《Beautiful Girls》已经连续两周。
毫无疑问，Sean Kingston是今年美国流行乐坛涌现出的最突出的新人之一，而他的成功也也是托了网络销量的福，《Beautiful Girls》首周夺冠就是凭借单周26次的下载销量。由于Sean Kingston从小是在牙买加长大，因此他的这张专辑当中或多或少有一些牙买加的音乐元素（Reggae，Dancehall）。在《Beautiful Girls》之后，本张专辑中的第二支打榜单曲《Me Love》就是一首以雷鬼节奏为基础的歌。这支单曲在目前的Billboard单曲榜中也是很受欢迎的，适合夏天的清凉节奏和极易上口的旋律使它在单曲榜中的前景同样乐观。在上榜第一周，《Me Love》就冲进了榜单的前30名，排在第28位。有不少歌迷都说听到这首《Me Love》就会想到了Led Zeppelin的名曲《D'yer Mak'er》。在《There's Nothin》当中，来自圣安东尼奥、嗓音出众的R&B女星保拉·迪安娜（Paula DeAnda）与Sean倾情对唱，而喜欢听“海豚音”的歌迷还可以在这首歌中欣赏到Paula的海豚音。
有了两首成功单曲的支撑，Sean Kingston这张处子作在发行后得到了不错的反响，然而，这张专辑的整体质量还是略有欠缺。不过，对于年仅17岁的Sean Kingston来说，一切才刚刚开始。
